The Bristol View HOA Board met on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2PM at the home of Gloria Wilner.

In attendance were Gloria Wilner, Fred Weber, Bert Stanley, Marilyn Steane, Bill Tomlinson and Warren Knapp.

On a discussion of responsibility for insect infestations, it was thought important to reiterate that since residents own their homes outright, any infestations on the exterior or in the interior of the home are the responsibility of the resident.  It was noted that several residents use EnviroTech or Terminex to resolve problems.

Replacements for a number of items were discussed. A metal garage door that never needs painting and is less expensive than the current cedar door will become the new standard replacement garage door.  Residents who need to replace only one or two sections of the cedar door may do so, but if the entire garage door is to be replaced the metal door will be required.

Definitions of the new standard garage door, a standard vinyl shingle replacement for the cedar shakes on Phase 1 homes, as well as standard paint color updates and replacement exterior lamps are being documented by Marilyn Steane, Architecture Chairperson, and will be posted shortly on the community website at www.bristolview.org.

Fred Weber reported that the entrance garden at Bristol View Drive will be redone now that that the irrigation system has been installed

All 83 driveways were surveyed by Bill Tomlinson, a Pittsford Paving representative and Fred Weber and 33 need some form of work. The drives needing attention were broken into 3 groups; 17 need work this year; the others will be deferred until next year or later years to control expenses.

The special assessment was discussed again. Capital projects were identified: as the need to repave Spruce Ridge, paying for the entrance garden irrigation systems, and replacing all mailbox stands which have deteriorated badly.  By far the biggest item is the Spruce Ridge repaving which needs to be done 5 years before it had been forecast and the dramatically higher cost of asphalt for the project.

It was noted by Fred Weber that, based upon Post Office standards, virtually every mailbox stand on Bristol View Drive is either misplaced or at the wrong height.  When the stands are replaced, this problem will be addressed and the mailboxes will be replaced as well.

Upcoming events include a TGIF get-together at the Geraci’s home, 10 Bristol View Drive at 6PM on May 29th.

The annual eyebrow picnic will be held on August 23rd.  More information will be forthcoming, but please keep the date open.

The next meeting will be held at Bert Stanley’s home on July 8th at 2PM.
