The Bristol View HOA Board met at
home of Fred Weber at 2:00PM. Attending were Bert Stanley, Warren Knapp, Bill
Tomlinson, Marilyn Steane, Gloria Wilner and Fred Weber.
April Board meeting minutes were
approved as written.
Architecture
It is the opinion of the Board and Bll Tomlinson that the fences bordering the golf course belong
to the golf course. Bill will confirm this as we are approaching the point where some of the fences are rotting and will need to be replaced.
Regarding replacements for the current exterior lamps, it was agreed that we'd prefer, if possible, to offer at least two options to
accomodate residents' desire to spend either a modest amount or to go for more premium lamps. Gloria and Marilyn will look into the options and report to the Board next month.
Good Neighbor Committee
The "Spring Fling" event at the RPO Home was not real well attended due, in part, to the limited time
available for notifying residents of the event. Enthusiam in the group was high for continuing doing more things like this in the future.
The Summer Picnic event will be held on August 24th at the Knapp and Glaser homes at 29 and 31 Bristol View Drive. The committee is looking for more
volunteers to partipate in the planning and running of events.
Landscaping
Various trees endangering homes were trimmed or removed. More are planned.
Preliminary bids for installing underground irrigation
systems to water the entrance gardens at Bristol View Drive and Woodcliff Terrace were presented bu Bill Tomlinson. AccuRain did the irrigation systems for Horizon Hill
development. At the rate we are now paying the landscaping crew to water the gardens, payback on the investment will be about 3 to 3.5 years. As our residents age, hauling
garden hoses up to 160 feet and watering the gardens is becoming an issue. Bill Tomlinson, working with Fred Weber, will continue pursuing the bids submitted,
assure the OK of the residents of the two homes to which the systems would be attached and that the contractor we choose deals properly with the Town and proceed with installation this Fall unless unforeseen issues arise.
It was pointed out that residents should know that Time Warner is required to repair any damage done to their cables by our landscaping crew and is not
allowed to charge for such repairs. The cables are supposed to have been buried lower than they are in some areas and that is what causes the
occasional severing of the cables.
Residents will receive an email asking them not to water their lawns the night before mowing occurs (normally Sunday or Monday evenings) as that
contributes to mower damage to lawns on swales, etc when the grass is particularly wet on mowing days.
Some residents have planted shrubs and trees that should not be trimmed at the time of our once-annually trimming which occurs right after the
builder-provided viburnum and spirea have bloomed. Junipers and arbor vitae can also be trimmed at that time, but other plantings such as as forsythia and
lilacs need to be trimmed immediately after they bloom in early Spring, well before the viburnum and spirea bloom. Still others should be
trimmed only in the fall. All residents will be asked in the above email to indicate whether they wish to have the landscaping
crew NOT trim any of their their foundation plantings as a way to protect their more exotic plantings. The choice will be either "trim everything as
previously done" or "trim none" as our landscaping crew is not trained to know which plantings should or should not be trimmed in ealy summer. It was pointed out that Horizon Point decided not to have the HOA trim any
foundation plantings as a way to resolve this same issue.
Additional landscaping issues were discussed including the slow pace of mulching and some quality of work issues that Fred is addressing with Pat Fasano.
Other Items
Bill updated the Board on the cost of various asphalt repairs that were determined to be required during a walk-around with Monroe Asphalt as well as the cost
and timing to resurface lower Spruce Ridge where substantial "alligatoring" has occurred. Bill will update the Board at the July meeting.
The revised website chart on paint and stain options will be finalized and put up on the website this month. Residents should understand that Hadlock House of Paints
at 7273 Victor Pittsford Road (Rte 96) offers discounted rates to Bristol View residents so be sure to ask for it.
Bill Tomlinson will investigate available dates at Casa Larga for the annual meeting in Septemeber and report back to the Board. He'll pick dates when we would not have a noisy group next to us.
Next Meeting
Next meeting will be held July 21, 2008 at 2PM at Bert Stanley's home.
